Weapons of the Future - According to Popular Mechanics

Winston Churchill once said that generals are always preparing for the last war. But if that's true, who's preparing for the wars of the future? The answer: engineers and weapons designers. It is the creative vision of these people that often dictates what the wars of tomorrow will look like. In May, Popular Mechanics, along with the Discovery Channel, will show readers the top 10 of weapons that are likely to dominate in future wars.

You'll also here about how the magazine's editorial, together with a few lucky readers, tried out weapons of the past, include a working trebuchet that fired some heavy ammunition at a field.

In the Made in Russia section, you'll read about how the country's top physicists proposed to make supersonic passenger aircraft noise free, and in the PM in Your Town section, a story about St. Petersburg scientist who invented an interplanetary transport vehicle.

In addition, Russian racing champ Gennady Broslavsky demonstrated several driving incredible maneuvers and gave readers a few tips on executing them.
