Popular Lecture Center Tallies Results for Past Half-Year
During the first five months of 2011, 20 lectures were delivered by Popular Mechanics magazine as part of its Popular Lecture Center project. The number of listeners reached 107,000: 7,000 attended lectures and 100,000 watched videos on the web.
The Popular Lecture Center project will continue in September 2011, and lectures will be held not only in Moscow (four times a month at the 35MM movie theater) but also in St. Petersburg (twice a month at Loft Project Etazhi).
As planned, 20 lectures overall (14 in Moscow and six in St. Petersburg) will be held in the period from September to December 2011. Organizers expect 106,000 people to participate — attend lectures and watch videos on the web. Binary stars, artificial intelligence and fifth-dimension probability will be themes of upcoming lectures, and, as the French Embassy is a partner in the project, well-known French scientists and specialists will deliver lectures at the Popular Lecture Center.
