Popular Lectures in May

The May series of Popular Mechanics lectures will focus on superstring theory and the relationship between the subjective states of the brain (perception, emotion and thoughts) and neurophysiological processes. The lectures will be held at the 35MM movie theater located at 47 Ulitsa Pokrovka.

On May 15 at 7:30 p.m., physicist Alexander Gorsky will deliver a lecture for laypeople explaining the main points of superstring theory — the most compelling theory in modern theoretical physics.

On May 22 at 7:30 p.m., neurophysiologist Yevgeny Yumatov will lecture on “the brain and the human psyche." Yumatov will draw on his research concerning the origin and relationship between the subjective states of the brain (perception, emotion and thoughts) and neurophysiological processes.

On May 29 at 7:30 p.m., French neurobiologist George Shapute will discuss the place of the modern human in relation to animals and computers. The lecture will be held in French with simultaneous translation.
