Grazia Magazine Hosts Beauty Party
The Grazia magazine Beauty Party — part of the 2012 Young Designers Contest — was held at Moscow’s top banquet venue, the Casta Diva restaurant, on Aug. 28.
The winners of last year’s contest have conquered the fashion world: They hold their own fashions shows, open their own showrooms and are featured in print and television reports. This year, 10 contest finalists will show their work at the Volvo Fashion Week in Moscow and the Aurora Fashion Week Russia in St. Petersburg. Amateur stylists and makeup artists will also have a chance to show their skills at a backstage show. Grazia will offer a range of prizes for the finalists: fashion instruction, apprenticeships and collaboration with famous brands, and the opportunity to present their collections in the online store
This year’s contestants had to create two images: a '60s-style outfit and a floor-length velvet dress, both of which became the Beauty Party motifs. Throughout the evening, makeup artists from Make Up For Ever and stylists from Redken 5th Avenue NYC created interesting looks for the assembled guests: highlights, bright eye shadows, long false eyelashes, bouffants and Babette hairdos — all the styles made popular by Twiggy, Jackie and Audrey Hepburn. Guests were also offered Minx designer nail coverings and could select interesting accessories with help from Die_blonde stylists and experts from the Moscow Institute of Art and Industry. Afterward, a Nikon photographer captured their image against the background of an oversized Grazia magazine cover.
The evening’s highpoint was a workshop by Redken 5th Avenue NYC leading expert Natalia Dubova and Make Up For Ever head visagiste and national trainer Viktoria Tagayeva. The specialists told guests how to create '60s-style hairdos and makeup. Singer Viktoria Daineko and actress Anastasia Zadorozhnaya modeled the evening’s creations. Viktoria wore a long green velvet dress and the experts gave her an evening look with the help of false eyelashes. Anastasia modeled the daytime look, wearing a dress with a graphic design and sporting a Babette hairdo in the popular '60s style.
Guests enjoyed complimentary snacks, relaxed conversation and a pleasant atmosphere. A number of celebrity and high society people were in attendance, including Anastasia Myskina, Natalia Turovnikova, Anastasia Osipova, Vlad Lisovets, Konstantin Gaidai, Irina Antonenko, Anastasia Makeyeva and others.
The party was a great success!
The most interesting part is yet to come — the final showing at Volvo Fashion Week in Moscow and Aurora Fashion Week Russia in St. Petersburg.
