Popmech.ru – Voted Best Popular Scientific Site of the Year
The Popular Mechanics website was voted best scientific and popular site in 2012 by the International Union of Internet Professionals.
The voting was conducted as part of the annual ROTOR awards. Honors will also be given in such categories as PostScience, Academia, A Beautiful Mind and Elements.
ROTOR is the main professional award for the Russian Internet. It dates back to 1999 and is presented annually by the EZhE International Union uniting more than 500 prominent Internet professionals.
In the first round, the jury nominates contest participants, determines the finalists and the grand prize for each category. At the same time, the jury nominates the Magnificent 20 — those Internet professionals who have made the greatest contribution to the development of the Russian Internet, or Runet. In the final tour, the jury selects the winners from among the finalists and distributes the prizes.
