Vedomosti recently announced the start of a project that will see the newspaper's editorial staff working on content for the www.vedomosti.ru website. Users of the site will soon be able to log on and read articles written especially for the newspaper's Internet version. Articles will appear on the site at midnight and change along with the major news events of the day. Most of the material will be published in the newspaper's print version the next day in much more detailed versions.
In this way, readers of the newspaper's site will have a jump on the important political and financial events of the day. This system has been in place at The Financial Times - one of Vedomosti's founders, for the past year.
"Many people go on the Vedomosti site not only to read an electronic version of the newspaper, but also to find out the latest news by reading our agency wires," said Tatyana Lysova, the editorial director of Business News Media. "Seeing as how our correspondents often have additional information, we decided that we would pass it on to them during the middle of the day."
After some time, when the number of archived news items grows sufficiently, the site plans to launch an audio and video content feature. You can familiarize yourself with it on www.vedomosti.ru.
