Baikal Photo Exhibition at Domashny Ochag Festival

National Geographic Russia took part in the Domashny Ochag Festival by displaying its October issue along with an exhibition of Sergei Shitikov’s “Baikal” photographs depicting one of the main themes of that issue.

The magazine features an article by special correspondent Valeria Dubchak who shares new details about challenges facing scientists conducting research on Baikal, and about the Mir on Baikal expedition. The local people have their own mystical explanations for the lake’s mysteries, but scholars have tried for over a century to solve those riddles with the aid of science. Some of the answers to those questions can be found in the October issue of National Geographic Russia.
