The Moscow Times Remembers the 20th Century

The Chronicle of the 20th Century in Photographs project consists of four unique exhibits and focuses on the main events of the 20th century, the Soviet way of life and foreigners visiting the Soviet Union. The exhibit opens previously unknown pages in the life of this enormous country, and presents a gallery of images by TASS photographers on an unprecedented scale.

The first exhibit of the project, “Symbols of an era: our history from 1920 to 1991” will be held at the Red Workshop on “Vinzavod” from March 30 to April 25, 2010. The exposition consists of approximately 140 images taken by Soviet photojournalists who worked for TASS between 1920 and 1991. For the first time, a panoramic illustration of a great era is presented in a single exhibition space – images of politicians and leading figures in the arts, sports and scientific achievement, as well as festive parades, wars and cataclysms.
