Agroinvestor Forum in St. Petersburg

Agroinvestor magazine held a northwestern agricultural forum titled “Making Agribusiness Profitable” that brought together more than 80 agricultural producers, agriholding companies, food processing companies, market experts and analysts. Ingosstrakh served as general partner to the forum, Rosselkhozbank (Russian Agricultural Bank) acted as general bank partner and Rosagroleasing served as partner. Agroinvestor Editor-in-Chief Nikolai Lychev moderated the forum.

This year will not be the easiest for the agricultural sector in terms of both crop production and livestock. Forum participants cited increased costs and expenses, stagnant demand for many types of products, higher credit rates and rising prices for utilities and supplies of materials and technical resources.

What will the meat harvest and market be like this year? How can we maintain margins, attract investment and obtain credit? How can we hedge risks and insure against loss? What can the business experience of market leaders teach us? Forum participants discussed these and other questions during the forum’s two sessions as well as in informal discussions.
