National Geographic Traveler Wins My Planet Award

The My Planet national awards ceremony for achievements in the field of travel was held at the Izvestia Concert Hall in Moscow on Nov. 21. National Geographic Traveler magazine was named the best print media devoted to travel. NGT is the Russian version of the legendary U.S. publication that has gained the world’s widest readership among travel magazines during its 20 years in existence.

The My Planet honor is awarded by the travel television channel of the same name. The award identifies the best companies and projects promoting the development of the Russian travel industry and making a significant contribution to creating comfortable conditions for travel. The winners were chosen through electronic voting by a 66-member jury of leading travel experts. My Planet TV channel editor-in-chief Nikolai Tabashnikov served as the jury chairman.

This year, 110 participants competed for the honors in 13 categories: blog, Internet resource, print media, radio program, advertising campaign, service for booking accommodations, service for searching and booking airplane and train tickets and others.
