An unprecedented roundtable will be held in Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin on January 17, 2007. Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder will join a discussion with Igor Shuvalov, presidential advisor and Russia's G8 sherpa, Alexander Rahr, a leading German expert on Russia, and Russia Profile Editor Andrei Zolotov.
The event is jointly organized by Russia Profile magazine and the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
The central theme of discussion is "Strategic Partnership between Russia and Germany: Summarizing Russia-s Chairmanship of the G8 and Looking Ahead to the German EU Presidency." The roundtable will bring together over 800 participants, including diplomats, politicians, experts, businessmen, and representatives of major Western media outlets. It is a record number of registered participants for an event held by the German Council on Foreign Relations.
As part of the program, Igor Shuvalov will attend a lunch with leading German journalists, and a dinner joined by Gerhard Schroeder and major German politicians and businessmen.
