FHM Carried the Olympic Fire
FHM magazine became the only glossy magazine to represent Russia in the relay race of the Olympic fire in Italy.
On December 19, Dmitri Gubin, FHM editor-in-chief, took the torch from an Italian participant on Genoa streets and handed it to Victor Gusev, the sports commentator from Pervy TV channel.
The relay-race started on December 8 in Rome was held on a route 11,000 km long. The number of participants was 10,000 people. Each one had his individual torch designed for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games by the famous Pininfarina workshop.
The list of other Russian participants included athletes Irina Rodnina, Irina Lobatcheva and Ilia Averbukh, singer Andrei Makarevich, actors Alexander Lazarev and Dmitri Pevtsov. The cost of travel as well as the torch was paid by Samsung, the official sponsor of the Winter Olympics and a long-standing partner of our publishing house.
