Changes in the Independent Media Board of Directors
Alexander Gukasov will join the board of directors of Independent Media Sanoma Magazines as of January 1, 2006
Within the board of directors Alexander will oversee commercial strategy and policies of the company. Alexander will also remain managing director of Vedomosti.
At present the board of directors of IM includes Derk Sauer (CEO), Lena Myasnikova, Mikhail Doubik, Michael von Schlippe & Tanya Shishkova (CFO).

Alexander Gukasov was born on March 23rd, 1957. In 1980 he graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical Institute, faculty of English language (English and German languages). From 1988 to 1990 - postgraduate studies of State scientific research institution of general pedagogic problems.
Has additionally taken the following programs - business administration for top managers at Oxford University (1991), the program for publishers and editors-in-chief at Stanford University (1997) and the top managers program of Independent Media (1998). From 1984 to 1987 - representative-translator of ZarubezhGeologia, of State Committee of International Economic Relations, Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia. At Independent Media since 1992. First as a sales manager, then from 1996-1999 served as The Moscow Times and Kapital advertising sales director. From 2000 - present - managing director of Business News Media/ Vedomosti (daily business and financial newspaper, joint venture of Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and Independent Media). Married, has 2 sons.
