A Party Aboard a Ship

On June 15, the St. Petersburg edition of Vedomosti newspaper and The St. Petersburg Times organized a party for the residents of the "SOS Children's Village" situated in the city of Pushkin, a suburb of St. Petersburg.
A children's village is a special type of a children's home, very similar to a family, with several children living in the same house with their "mother" teacher. There are four "SOS Children's Villages" in Russia now: in Tomilino near Moscow, Lavrovo in the Orel region, Pushkin near St. Petersburg, and Kandalaksha (Murmansk region). The fifth one is being built in Butovo near Moscow.
The St. Petersburg edition of Vedomosti and The St. Petersburg Times have invited the residents of the "SOS Children's Village" and their "mothers" to make a river trip along the Neva to the Gulf of Finland. A 2-hour excursion was organized during the journey.
The party was organized with the help of ASTA-Travel company which, had provided the ship, as well as Sputnik and Pepsi Cola, who provided snacks and drinks.
Such parties are very important for the residents of the "SOS Children's Village" because they in need of communication, educational trips, and excursions.
Another pleasant event happened in May. Andrei Arshavin, the famous FC Zenit forward, visited the "SOS Children's Village", thanks to IM's employees in St. Petersburg. On March 16, he became the good will ambassador of the "Children's Village."
