On October 22, Madeleine Albright presented her memoirs "Madam Secretary" to Russian readers and journalists. The presentation was held in bookstore "Moskva".
Albright briefly described the book and the background of its appearance. The memoirs combine the personal with politics. Albright writes how a Czechoslovak refugee, whose family first fled Hitler, then the communists, grew up in USA and became an advocate of civil and women's rights and the first woman to serve as America's secretary of state.
"Madam Secretary" also brings to life the world leaders Albright dealt with face-to-face in her years of service. There are portraits of such figures as Vaclav Havel, Yassir Arafat, Ariel Sharon, Benjamin Netanyahu, King Hussein, Vladimir Putin, Slobodan Milosevic, and North Korea's mysterious Kim Jong-Il, as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Jesse Helms.
"Madam Secretary" was published in March by Alpina Business Books that already prepares to print in Russian another political bestseller - Bill Clinton's memoir "My Life".
