The Moscow Times anniversary

Ten years have passed since the moment The Moscow Times first appeared in Russia's capital. Despite all the obstacles, which inevitably appeared on the way of the English-language edition in Moscow, our newspaper did not only manage to survive, but also significantly strengthened its positions on the market. At the present time, the circulation figure is 35 000 copies.

The newspaper has distribution points in almost all prestigious corners of Moscow. Apart from that, we have a big army of corporate and private subscribers. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine a luxury hotel, restaurant or business center without a fresh issue of The Moscow Times.

"First we purchased 3 mini vans in Holland, drove them to Moscow, bought 20 computers and several tables п and in a few weeks we had a newspaper. This is how the project started. We did not believe in the success of the project from day one." With these words, Derk Sauer, the founder of The Moscow Times and IM President, opened a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the newspaper. The reception took place on October 10 in the Moscow Chamber of Commerce. During a brief official part, Derk congratulated the newspaper employees as well as advertisers, who made the existence of The Moscow Times possible.

The guests will remember a lottery, which gave some of them a chance to win photographs by the prominent Moscow Times photographers and caricatures published on the pages of the newspaper during all these years.

A caricature by Victor Bogorad, an artist, which depicted and was signed by the Media Relations Minister Michail Lesin, was awarded as a special prize.

The next day, on October 11, The Moscow Times organized a party for its employees. This remarkable event was attended not only by the ex-employees, who are currently working in Moscow, but also by colleagues from the U.S., Europe and Asia, who cooperated with The Moscow Times for many, many years.
